The celebration will be conducted at the Nanticoke Indian Museum located at 26673 John J. Williams Hwy. (Rt. 24), in Millsboro, from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Delaware 250 Celebration will highlight this year’s Heri- tage Day festivities. The featured speaker will be Margaret Hughes, the state-wide Delaware 250 Celebration Coordina- tor. Page 4SouthernDelawareExplorer.comMay 2025 92nd Annual Dover Days Festival, May 2nd & 3rd The annual Dover Days is one of Delaware’s largest and longest- running free events. Dover Days features the city’s longest-running festival with a parade on Saturday, May 3rd, however the festival will begin the evening before with an evening concert at 7 p.m. and fireworks. Both day’s events and festivities are a free community event for all ages. Friday evening, May 2nd, will include a performance by the Mil- ford Community Band, followed by fireworks on Legislative Mall. Saturday, May 3rd events,will kick off with a 9:15 a.m. parade down State Street, led by Dover PD motorcycles leading horse drawn carriages carrying elected officials. Community groups, schools, marching bands, businesses, elected officials, military contingents, historical reenactors and others that represent The First State’s history in the founding of our nation will be part of the annual celebration – parade registration is free, and spots are still available! The parade will go through the historic Green, where the Declaration of Independence was first read to assembled towns- people in 1776, and end at Water Street. Immediately following the parade, local schoolchildren will take their turns dancing on the maypole on The Green. Historical re- enactors will address and mingle with the crowd throughout the day.Legislative Mall will feature local vendors, artisans, food trucks, a tethered hot-air balloon, a car show, more entertainment and the folk group, Ampersand. The day’s festivities will conclude at 3 p.m. Other activities will include tours of historical sites, including the Dover Century Club, Dover Episcopal Church, The Biggs Museum of American Art, The Old State House, and Wesley United Method- ist Church. The Lewes British Motorcar Show “The British are Com- ing...Again!” will welcome a wide array of classic British vehicles to Lewes on Saturday, May 4th (Rain Date, May 5th). The British Motorcar Show concludes at 3 p.m. with the Winners’ Circle Parade from the ferry terminal, across the drawbridge and then down Second Street. Known for its annual events that draw discerning local collectors as well as those vacationing from the Baltimore/ Washington, DC, area as well as Philadelphia and New York City, the Rehoboth Art League is proud to present this event now in its 5th year as another way to bring creative minds to coastal Delaware. Held just prior to Memorial Day week- end—the unofficial start of summer for the beach town—the event will fill Grove Park with tents of original, quality art- work, where RAL member artists can sell their work. The 9th Annual Southern Delaware Wine, Food, & Music Festival will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at Schellville in Tanger Outlets Seaside in Rehoboth Beach. The new date follows a postponement from October 2024 and was announced by President and Festival founder, Stacy LaMotta. “I am thrilled and grateful to once again present this award- winning festival for our community,” said LaMotta. “Thank you to everyone who is helping to make the festivalpossible and was supportive of the decision to postpone last year’s event. This year’s festival at Schellville will continue the tradition of being truly amazing and representative of what our beloved Delaware coastal area has to offer.” The event will feature over 20 local restaurants and 100 tastes of wine, cocktails, craft beer, mocktails and live mu- sic.
